Rio Santa Maria Formosa, Venice

One of six etching prints inspired by visits to Venice and Rome in the 1980s to 2000s.

Named for one of Venice's quieter waterways, this Rio Santa Maria Formosa etching captures the particular hush of a canal away from the main tourist routes. Narrow stone buildings rising directly from still water, their reflections broken only by the gentle wake of a passing gondola. Fine crosshatched linework builds the textures of aged brick and weathered shutters. A study in quiet Venetian architecture.

Printed on textured German Etching paper to preserve the authentic character of the original plate. Unframed, with white border.
