Carnival Procession - Venice

One of six etching prints inspired by visits to Venice and Rome in the 1980s to 2000s.

Four masked Carnival figures on a Venetian waterfront with elaborate black costumes and ornate fan-shaped headdresses giving a crisp, graphic contrast to the paving stones underfoot. Behind them, the grand facades of Venice's palazzi rise in warm, fading light. Each figure carries the same theatrical stillness, masked faces turned toward the viewer, costumes catching the last of the light. Fine etched linework builds the architectural detail of the buildings behind, with broad passages of shadow and untouched paper giving the composition its dramatic, stage-lit quality.

Printed on textured German Etching paper to preserve the authentic character of the original plate. Unframed, with white border.
